A BLOG ABOUT THE PROCESS OF LAUNCHING FOOD SCOOP
WELCOME,

My name is Vardaan Malhotra. I am part of the Environmental Science class in Fredericton High School, the capital of New Brunswick, Canada. I am partaking in a student-led initiative in which I launch my own website, called Food Scoop.

Stores are forced to throw away edible food on a daily basis to maintain a source of fresh food. This contributes towards $31 billion of wasted food by Canada on an annual basis. The goal of my website is to create a platform where businesses may sell their excess food or ingredients at a discounted rate, before they expire. The website would inform the general public of the food sale so that they may be able to come and pick up the desired items before the restaurant or store closes.

When placed in land fills, food is contributing to large amounts of methane production, a harmful gas that damages the Earth. It is crucial that the world works towards reducing the food wastage surplus. This can be done through the following initiative, which will also help promote local businesses and assist lower income individuals purchase high quality food and/or ingredients.
