Today was a great day! I had a meeting with Jason LeJeune, one of the owners of Isaac's Way. Jason had assisted me in numerous ways through our discussion. He had indicated that apps/websites such as these have been released in the past, but with minimal success. Often, after the buzz that surrounds the initiative dies down, so does the app/website itself. Jason had mentioned that this possibly due to the fact that the website/app required too much work from the restaurant, leading them to having to spend more money to keep the program running than they initially intended to. Thus, the first order of business is to make my program as non-time consuming as possible. I am looking into working online payments into websites to attain this goal. Speaking of websites, Jason had indicated how web pages do not reach as large of a crowd as they used to before. He said that to bring people on board, I needed to connect through social media. I have started working on a Facebook page for Food Scoop. The goal of the page: to inform the Fredericton public of the foods that are available at a discounted rate. The website, then, will only serve as extra information and a source of online payments. Last but certainly not least, Jason had suggested that I change my target market for this initiative. He indicated how restaurants may be forced to spend more money than they make through this program, but bakeries and speciality food stores may benefit more from the initiative. I took his advice and began calling different types of local businesses.
